The server got no wifi card so I tethered a device. It is found hardware-wise and configured as a wired device but no wifi networks appear.
lspci/lsub and stuff all show it. Just tried everything I could for two hours to no avail. The wpa scan shows no networks. After starting the service with the correct network SSIDf and the password. I did ifconfig <network> up all to no avail.
IP link shows the state UNKNOWN.
I did manage to tether my phone but not Netgear AXE3000 wifi usb adapter.
This is on RHEL 8.9. I am beginning to think it's lacking proper drivers for it.
I will redo this on Ubuntu. Since RHEL is more or less a data center and I wonder if they just did not include the correct drivers. Just a complete exercise in frustration.
