    bitlocker

I don't think bitlocker is a stupid choice in this day and age for laptop and mobile devices as long as the bitlocker user has provided for themselves a backup replacement key / device.

    bitlocker

I've never used it although I've known a few who have and lost the usb key and was unable to get onto their laptop computer. I wound up changing the HDD with a new HDD and then reinstalled the Windows OS which is what they wanted to do.

What makes you trust DuckDuckGo is OK for privacy?

Ya can't have positives without negatives it's just against the laws of electricity. Negatives can be a good thing as long as the negatives are not condescending. Negatives show where faults and weaknesses may exist and a user can address possible faults and issues. I really don't care for...

What makes you trust DuckDuckGo is OK for privacy?

I don't trust any browsers or search engines nowadays seems they've all been busted fibbing about how they don't sell user personal data. And no I don't have any links to back up what I say but they are out there if you look. I do use DuckDuckGo as I've used it for years and just like it.

Ubuntu 24.04 now ready for download along with it's spins.

Yep the last few Ubuntu releases and Ubuntu flavors releases have increases in iso size due to the default Snaps. Limiting your Snaps backups of previous installed Snaps to two will keep the HDD or SSD space under control. Yes there is regular maintenance required with Snaps. Here's a script...

    Dell Inspiron 15 3000 series

With only 4.0GB of memory I'd install a Linux distro with a lighter desktop environment such as Xfce. Gnome desktop environment requires a lot of system resources and will use up that 4.0GB of memory.

    Compare Mint with MX

As long as you download and use the software from the distros repository or a know reliable source you shouldn't encounter any badware leastwise I never have.
